Special Services

State | Federal Forms for Employees and Substitutes

Each child in a public school in California is a general education student first. To realize this vision each student who receives special education services should be served in the least restrictive environment with access to the best first instruction in the Common Core State Standards. All adults in the educational system are responsible for the education and support of all students, regardless of need. Our mission is to provide services that prepare all students for a seamless transition to adult life with the expectation that all students will learn and become productive citizens.

The Madera Unified School District provides a wide range of services and programs to meet the needs of students eligible for Special Education services. Most of these services can be provided for qualified students at local schools in collaboration with general education programs. However, some services and programs are only available at specified schools throughout the district and may require enrollment at a designated site.

If you, or anyone you know, suspect that a child has a disability, please contact the Office of Special Services at (559) 416-5845. Additional information can also be found in the Special Services section of the Parent and Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook.
