The Multilingual Educational Programs Department is committed to ensuring equitable access, academic excellence, and positive outcomes for multilingual learners through high-quality programs, collaborative leadership, and compliance with state and federal requirements.
The department proudly offers the District's Dual Language Immersion Programs, available to all interested families, and the Newcomer Program at the middle and high school levels, a parent-choice program designed to support students during their first year in a U.S. school.
In partnership with the Curriculum and Instruction and Assessment and Accountability departments, we monitor student progress, support evidence-based instructional practices, and promote continuous growth toward English learner reclassification. We also value meaningful family engagement by partnering with parents through the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) to strengthen communication, provide leadership opportunities, and ensure parent voices help inform programs and services for English learners.
Together, we are committed to ensuring every multilingual learner has the opportunity to achieve academic success, multilingual proficiency, and long-term success.
