The Department of Health & Wellness at Madera Unified School District plays a key role in coordinating and connecting district-wide resources that support the mental, emotional, and social well-being of students, families, and staff. It was created to fill gaps in care and ensure that mental health is seen as just as important as school success.

We work with other teams in our division and district to support students, addressing their academic needs as well as their overall well-being. Through collaboration and resource sharing, we aim to create a network of care that enhances the well-being of the entire school community. By promoting good mental health habits and a caring environment, we provide people with the tools and resources they need to do well in school and in life.

The Department of Health & Wellness has three main areas of focus:
  • Prevention: Using trauma-informed care, providing case management services, and offering resources to stop problems before they get worse.
  • Intervention: Providing intensive, short-term support for students who need help and connecting them with outside specialists for long-term care.
  • Education: Giving students, parents, and staff the knowledge and tools they need to better understand and support mental health.
Through our programs and efforts, our goal is to help people build strength, break the stigma around mental health, and make sure everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.
